Academic Literacy Self-Assessment

This self-assessment evaluates how well you can interpret academic texts related to nursing. You will first read a passage, such as a case study, in its entirety, followed by related questions. You may refer to the reading passage during the assessment.

These questions evaluate your ability to do the following:

• Extrapolate the meaning of academic vocabulary or phrases.
• Identify key facts explicitly stated in the text.
• Infer information not explicitly stated in the text.
• Recognize the purpose of specific wording or details.
• Ascertain the most logical location of an additional sentence within a paragraph.
• Summarize the main idea of the text.
